Why a supplier receives CSRD requests at all
Because value-chain information sits inside the reporting boundary of the buyer. The obligation is the buyer, the data is the supplier, and the mechanism is the contract.
What data is typically requested
Energy use and source, greenhouse-gas emissions where measurable, water use, waste handling, workforce numbers and conditions, and health-and-safety incidents. Requests are usually annual and repeat.
Start with what is already recorded
Utility bills, payroll records, production volumes and purchase records already contain most of what is asked. Suppliers who begin by writing down what they already hold answer far faster than those waiting to build a formal system.
Relationship to CSDDD
CSRD is disclosure; CSDDD is due diligence and action. The evidence overlaps substantially, so treat a request under either as building the same underlying record.
